Akshaya Tritiya
Today, we are graced with a celestial spectacle as our luminaries, the sun and the moon, are both in an exalted state. The sun blazes in the fiery sign of Aries, symbolizing energy and action, while the moon luxuriates in the nurturing embrace of Taurus, representing stability and abundance. This annual event, known as Akshaya Tritiya, is always a cause for celebration, but it is particularly special this year. We are blessed by the convergence of the Deva Guru Brihaspati (Jupiter) and the Moon in Taurus, and the Daitya Guru Shukra (Venus) is with the Sun in Aries.
Many auspicious events are said to have happened on this day. It is a day when we invoke the Goddess of Plenty, the Goddess Lakshmi, to bestow her wealth upon us. Lakshmi is the most benevolent, fertile, abundant one who gives without question. She doesn’t concern herself with issues of karma and deservingness. If you have her blessing, you will want for nothing. On Akshaya Tritiya, we seek her blessings for a prosperous year ahead. It is said that whatever acts you undertake today will be blessed with abundance and fruition.
The term 'Akshaya' translates to eternal or endless. On this day, I invite you to consider Akshaya as a concept of eternal recurrence. Whatever actions or intentions we set forth today may echo into perpetuity. It is a day to infuse our beings with both purposeful action and thoughtful intention. If you were to perpetually experience a particular state, what would you choose?
The luminaries represent different kinds of light within us. The sun is about purpose, our connection to our source, and that which others notice first about us. Wherever it sits in your chart, that house and sign are lit brightly. The moon, on the other hand, is more subtle. It is what, how, and who we love. It reflects our emotional nature, how we feel about the world around us, and also the secrets that we hold in our lineage and personal history. With the sun and moon both exalted, we can approach our purpose with a sense of elation and contentment. This year, that alignment is blessed by the presence of the two gurus, ensuring that our desire and purpose are infused with wisdom and knowledge.
I wish you all a very prosperous year ahead.
